SUMMARY:Camping Lums Pond State Park
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for an exciting tent camping trip at Lums Pond State Park in Bear\, DE June 22-24th.  Families can choose to camp one or two nights.  Cost is as follows:  Scouts $5 (flat rate regardless of camping one or two nights)\, Adults $10/day\, Siblings $5/day.    Cost includes the camping site fee and meals.  Sign up and payment for camping is due by Friday\, June 8th.  Please coordinate with Kim or Kelly for payment.\n \nAlso note that girls are able to join our Pack as of June 1st so this is a great opportunity for new female scouts to start in on the fun (contact me if you need a scout registration form prior to this event in order to attend as a scout)!   It’s also a great time to invite  your friends (boys or girls) who have shown an interest in scouting to come out and see what scouting is all about!  \n \nLums Pond State Park is about 35 minutes away just over the DE border and has a primitive camping site for youth and scouting groups. Note that the site has no running water but there are porta-potties (handicapped accessible) on site.  There are a few fire rings as well as picnic tables and a large space for tent set up.   There are bathrooms within driving distance with warm running water 🙂  We are able to drive right up to our camping area to park and unload. \nPark website:  http://www.destateparks.com/park/lums-pond/index.asp \nThe park features over 10 miles in hiking/biking trails\, several geocaches within the park\, sports fields\, frisbee golf course\, playgrounds\, and opportunities for fishing (bring your gear if you have it) and paddling in the largest freshwater pond in DE.   The park does have boat rentals available at a very reasonable cost ($7-$15/hour depending on type of boat). \nDogs are welcome at this park but must be on a leash (not to exceed 6 feet) except in specified off leash areas (there is an off leash area near the primitive campsite).  All pets must be licensed\, and proof of a rabies vaccination is required. \nAdditionally\, the park also includes an aerial tree-top ropes/zipline course called Go Ape.  It’s important to note that we are not permitted to participate in this activity as a scouting event\, however we can plan to go on our own as families prior to or at the conclusion of our camping tip.  This event needs to be booked on your own by visiting the Go Ape website (see below).  Note that we plan to discuss what times would work best for those interested at the Parent Leader planning meeting on Tues. May 22nd. \nThe link for Go Ape for additional information is as follows (please pay attention to the age/height/weight information for the courses):  https://goape.com/Locations/Delaware/Bear?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIr8K24aiO2wIVVVuGCh01mQLkEAAYASAAEgI5e_D_BwE \nWe completed a site survey to check out the campground and other areas of the park.  Click here for photos from the site survey. \nPlease use the sign-up below to sign up for one or two nights of camping (scroll to bottom when page loads): \nYou don't have permission to view this page.

SUMMARY:Camping - Muddy Run Campground
DESCRIPTION:Join Pack 802 on our first Fall 2017 camping trip to Muddy Run Campground located in Holtwood\, PA.  If you are new to camping\, check out our camping 101 post for frequently asked questions about pack overnighters.  Pack members will have the option of camping for either one or two nights between Friday and Sunday.  Cost for scouts and youth under seven is $5.00 per night.  Cost for adults and youth seven and up is $10.00/night.  Campers can check-in anytime after 3:00pm on Friday; however\, most families should plan to arrive between 5:30-7:00 if camping on Friday. \nMuddy Run Campground is a family campground with a picnic area\, bath house and playground on site.  We will be staying in the primitive tent camping area one (see map below) which is slightly more remote than the main sites but is within walking distance to a comfort station and potable water source.  The campground is located within Muddy Run Park and provides access to the resevoir and several hiking trails in the area.  This will provide a great opportunity for hiking and exploring several geocaches on site during the day on Saturday. \n \nWe strongly encourage pack families to attend this event because it will be a great introduction to camping for those with less experience.  Also\, for those families that have conflicts on Friday evening or Saturday morning (e.g. soccer)\, there will be plenty to do if you choose to only camp on Saturday night. \nWe request that you indicate your desire to attend using the sign-up sheet below as soon as possible.  If signing up for only one night\, please reserve an open space for either Friday or Saturday.  If camping both nights\, you must sign-up for each night separately.  Please annotate the total number in your party in the quantity field and the types of participants (scouts\, adults/older youth\, youth) in the type field.  For example\, if you have 2 scouts\, 2 adults\, and one youth please indicate total quantity 5 and list “2 scouts 2 adults 1 youth” in type field.  Final confirmation of your desire to participate and your payment are due by 19 September at our Pack meeting.  After 19 September\, the pack cannot provide refunds for individuals that cancel. \nThe tentative menu follows (final menu will be available at the Pack meeting on 19 Sept prior to the event): \nBeverages – Water\, fruit punch\, coffee\, tea \nFriday Dinner – Spaghetti with meatballs\, bread\, tossed salad.  Optional hot-dogs \nFriday snack – Smores \nSaturday Breakfast – Pancakes\, scrambled eggs\, bacon\, sausage \nSaturday Lunch – Sandwiches (PB&J or cold-cuts). Chips. Fruit \nSaturday Dinner – Hamburgers and hot dogs\, baked beans\, grilled veggies\, chips \nSaturday snack – Dutch oven apple cobbler\, smores \nSunday breakfast – Donuts\, cereal\, oatmeal \nYou don't have permission to view this page.
