SUMMARY:Rank Advancement Walk-Through at Susquehanna State Park
DESCRIPTION:We will be hosting a walk-through rank advancement ceremony on Saturday\, June 13th at Susquehanna State Park Picnic Area for all scouts.  Our formal rank advancement ceremony plans keep getting cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns but we don’t want to delay any further in getting our scouts the awards and achievements they’ve worked so hard to earn.  Although this is not an ideal situation and we wish things were different\, it’s a way to put closure to this past scout year and begin working on the next year’s rank along with summer activities! \nIt is important that you attend at your designated time so that we can maintain social distancing requirements and avoid a gathering of more than 10 people at a time (per current Governor’s order).  If you have more than one scout\, you can choose which time works best for you and attend at that time. \nScouts and their Families in each den should arrive for a walk-through during the following times: \nLions/Tigers/Wolves:  Arrive anytime between 10am and 11:30am \nBears/Webelos:  Arrive anytime between 11:30am and 12:30pm \nFormat:  Families will drive into parking lot and a pack member will direct you where to park and wait depending on how many cars are ahead of you.  You and your scout(s) once given the go-ahead will exit your vehicle to then honor your scout and have him/her receive any outstanding achievements (belt loops or pins)\, awards\, and rank earned.  We will have a photo opportunity for scouts and their families along with a few take-home keepsakes. \nPack families need to adhere to social distancing requirements and limit physical contact.  All attendees must wear a face covering when within 6 feet of another individual. \nPlease have your scout dress in field uniform (class A formal uniform). \nPlease be patient if others have arrived before you creating a wait.  We plan to move quickly though with each scout to minimize contact time but want to give each family time to enjoy the moment. \nLocation: \nSusquehanna State Park Deer Creek Picnic Area \n948 Stafford Rd. Havre de Grace\, MD 21078 \n*If you are unable to attend this event or do not feel comfortable attending\, we can hold onto your scout’s achievements/awards till a later date. Please contact Kim if this is preferred. \n

SUMMARY:Harford District Fall Camporee (Webelos and AOL dens only)
DESCRIPTION:The Harford District is hosting a Fall Camporee at Broad Creek Memorial Scout Reservation’s Camp Oest Oct 11th-13th.  This event is for all Webelos\, AOL\, and Scouts BSA age groups. The Pack will be subsidizing the cost of this event for all Webelos scouts (Jr. Webelos and AOL dens) and their parents.  You have the choice of attending the day event only\, camping one night\, or camping both nights.  We will be camping at the Navajo Canyon site. \nCost is $5 per person per night and sign-up and money is due by Tuesday\, October 8th.   \nNote that it’s preferred that this remain an older scout (webelos) event but if siblings need to attend in order to allow the scout to attend\, that is permissible.   Family members who are also not camping may visit as long as leadership is aware and plan accordingly.  We expect however that each scout attending does have an adult partner with him/her or coordinate in advance for direct supervision.  Webelos scouts are permitted to camp without a parent/guardian if parent/guardian signs a permission slip and scout is supervised by another adult.  One supervising adult however can only supervise one child other than their own.\n \n \nThis year’s theme is “Scouts BSA Games”.  There will be a combination of individual activities and team sports.  Individual activities will include push-ups (1 minute time)\, sit-ups (1 minute time)\, baseball throw for accuracy\, baseball throw for distance\, football punt\, pass\, kick\, soccer kick for accuracy\, basketball throw for accuracy\, 20 yard dash\, 50 yard dash\, and 100 yard dash.  Team games include wiffle ball\, soccer\, touch football or kick ball. \nSign-up here to attend: \nYou don't have permission to view this page. \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Pack Event - Overnight Visit on the Battleship New Jersey Museum
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an overnight on the legendary Battleship New Jersey located in Camden\, New Jersey (across the Delaware River very close proximity to Philadelphia) on Saturday\, June 15th.  The arrival time for the overnight is between 5pm and 6:30pm Saturday and will end at noon on Sunday.   The overnight includes\, dinner\, breakfast\, overnight accommodations\,  guide led tour of the ship\, overnight encampment patch\, morning and evening colors (flag ceremony). and time for a self guided tour Sunday morning.  Minimum age for this event is 6 years old so please keep that in mind when signing up to attend as young siblings will not be allowed on the ship (museum policy not something we put in place). \nThis trip was just added to the Pack’s calendar this year because of the amazing outcome of our Fall popcorn fundraiser.  We exceeded our fundraising goal and are able to support sending any scout who sold over $1\,000 total sales on this trip for free – the scouts who qualify will be listed in the email you received regarding this event.  Adult partners and siblings are required to pay their own way to attend.  The cost for Adult partners and siblings is $69 each.  This event is open to the entire Pack and therefore\, if your scout(s) did not earn this trip with popcorn sales\,  he or she can still attend at a cost of $69 each. \nThe Pack needs to reserve our spot on the ship by paying $20 per person non-refundable deposit and therefore we need preliminary attendance numbers by Tuesday\, January 15th.  We will be collecting $20/person down payment from you for those attending (no down payment needed for scouts who earned this for free) by this date as well to hold your spot. The remaining total ($49/person) will be due by April 30th. \nIf you sign-up but need to cancel before the April 30th deadline\, you will receive your $20 down payment back in full however if you cancel afterwards\, we cannot guarantee a refund.  Once we make our booking\, we are only able to add additional numbers to our headcount if space is available on the ship and therefore you are encouraged to sign-up in advance if you are hopeful of attending because we may not be able to add spots later.  It’s easier to cancel spots as long as we know well in advance. \nThere is an additional $12.50 fee per vehicle to park in the Camden City Parking Authority Garage designated for Battleship overnight parking. \nAdditional information about overnights on the Battleship New Jersey can be found at the museum’s website:  https://www.battleshipnewjersey.org/visit/overnights/ \nNote that the ship’s birthing areas for sleeping arrangements will be co-ed (families sleep together) but there are separate male and female bathrooms. \n \nWe will be meeting up in Philadelphia to sight-see earlier in the day Saturday for those interested (optional) – see that event on website for details. \nThe overnight museum trip is a rain or shine event. \nPlease use the following sign-up sheet to attend this event.  Please sign-up all who plan to attend even if your scout’s fee is covered…we need to know that you plan to attend.  Preliminary sign-ups and down payment fees due January 15th! \nYou don't have permission to view this page.

SUMMARY:Harpers Ferry Pack Camping Event - Treehouse Campground at Maple Tree
DESCRIPTION:Overview:  Join us for our premier fall camping trip to Harpers Ferry\, West Virginia. The Pack will camp two nights from Friday\, 19 October to Sunday 21 October.  The group will enter the Harpers Ferry National park and complete a scenic hike on Saturday morning followed by a visit to historic Harpers Ferry on Saturday afternoon.  Scouts will have the opportunity to complete the Harpers Ferry Heritage Trail program during our walking tour of the town as well as speak with a guide at the Appalachian Trail Conservancy headquarters. At camp we will have some games and crafts for the scouts to complete as well as a fun team-building event for everyone! \nCampground Notes:  We will be staying at the Treehouse Camp at Maple Tree Campground in Rohrersville\, MD and have reserved the Camp Pavilion which is furnished with a small stage\, electricity\, and large adjacent cook house to use during our stay.  We will have space along the outside of the pavilion to set up our tents.  There is a bathroom with flushable toilets/running water and both indoor and outdoor heated showers.  Cost for scouts and siblings is $5/night and adults $10/night and includes all meals from Dinner Friday through Breakfast on Sunday.  Check-in is anytime after 2pm Friday and Check out is by 1pm Sunday. \nMaps/Address:  Address for campground is:  20716 Townsend Rd\, Rohrersville\, MD 21779.   \nAddress for visitor center is:  171 Shoreline Dr\, Harpers Ferry\, WV 25425\n \nDetailed Google map with all points of interest for our hike and the heritage trail is located here:  Harpers Ferry Google Map \n\n\nAgenda:\n\n\nFriday afternoon:  Arrive to Treehouse Camp anytime after 2pm.  We plan to have dinner around 6pm.  We will play some group games and launch rockets (weather permitting).  If it rains we will use the pavilion and work on one of the craft projects.  This time will also be a great opportunity for scouts to meet with their dens to discuss any scout achievements that may be completed during the weekend. \nSaturday morning:  We will be starting breakfast at 7:00 am so that we can depart the campsite early and enter the park when it opens at 9:00 am. Families joining us on Saturday morning can either meet us at camp early or meet at the visitor center at 9:00am.  The primary activity for Saturday morning will be completing one of two hike options.  The entire group will meet at the Harpers Ferry visitor center and parking lot at approximately 9:00am where we will board a park service shuttle taking us to lower Harpers Ferry.  There is a parking fee of $10 per vehicle entering the national park that you will be responsible to pay; however\, if you keep your receipt the Pack will reimburse you.  Additionally\, if you are a parent of a fourth grader\, you are eligible to receive a free National Park pass good for one full year (every kid in a park).  After riding the shuttle bus to town\, the entire group will walk approximately 1 mile across the Potomac river and Westbound on the C&O canal trail before splitting into two hiking groups. \nA majority of the group will hike the “Overlook Cliff Trail” section of the Maryland Heights trail.  This is a 3 mile out and back hike to a rock face overlooking Harpers Ferry.  The hike follows a civil war military road 700′ uphill in the first mile before descending 300′ on a narrower path to the overlook in the last 1/2 mile. The hike may be challenging for our youngest scouts but we will set our pace based on the slowest hiker and will not leave anyone behind. Additional details are located at the following link:  Overlook Cliff Trail. \nHikers that would prefer to stay on flat terrain may continue to walk on the C&O canal trail and experience views of the canal and the Potomac River.  The river has several rock outcrops in this area creating some white water.  There are likely to be rafters and other paddlers taking on this section of the river. \nRegardless of which hike you participate in\, you will bring your lunch with you and eat it during the hike.  The group will aim to meet back at the Point in Harpers Ferry at approximately 1:00-1:30 pm. \nSaturday Afternoon:  The group will tour the historic Harpers Ferry town by completing the Harpers Ferry Historic Trail program.  This trail is an approximately 2 mile self-guided walking tour that visits numerous sites in Harpers Ferry to include the Armory Square\, John Brown’s Fort\, and several small museums/historic shops.  Scouts that complete this program will earn a commemorative Harpers Ferry Heritage Trail patch.  Additional information about the Heritage Trail is located at the following link:  Harpers Ferry Heritage Trail Guide \nAt the approximate half-way point on this walk\, we will stop and take a break at the Appalachian Trail Conservancy headquarters.  Scouts will have an opportunity to view a 3D topographical map of the entire AT\, speak with a trail guide\, and learn about the history of the AT. \nA majority of the locations on this trail are within a half mile of the shuttle bus pick-up/drop-off so scouts that are unable to complete the walking tour may return to the campground via the bus at any time. \nSaturday Evening:  The entire group will return to the campground by approximately 5:00 pm where we will prepare dinner and relax for the evening.  Scouts that have not already done so will have a chance to create a paracord neckerchief slide.  Additionally\, all scouts will participate in a team-building exercise that will be a lot of fun.  After dinner\, we will have a campfire program where scouts will have an opportunity to participate in skits/run-ons or tell a joke or short story to keep us entertained. \nSunday Morning:  There are no formal activities planned for Sunday morning but the pack is welcome to stay at the campground until checkout at 2:00 pm.  This time may serve as a good opportunity for scouts to meet within their dens to discuss any achievements that were completed during the weekend. \nMenu:\n\nFriday dinner: bbq chicken\, baked beans\, pasta salad\, macaroni salad\, corn.\nSaturday breakfast: pancakes\, eggs\, sausage\, oatmeal.\nSaturday lunch: sandwiches (turkey\, ham\, PBJ) chips\, fruit snacks\, apples\, banannas.\nSaturday dinner: chili\, chicken and dumplings\, hot dogs\, rice\, green beans. Possible extra sides from Friday.\nSunday breakfast: quiche\, bacon\, pancakes\, eggs\, oatmeal.\nDesserts: lava cake\, cobbler\, s’mores\, brownies.\nDrinks: OJ\, apple juice\, water\, lemonade\, coffee\, tea\n\nGeneral Camping Notes:\nDress code for this event will be class B uniform (T-shirt) if you have one otherwise just wear comfortable clothes (we will be placing an order for new T-shirts soon so don’t worry if you don’t have one for this trip).  Pack 802 requests that all scouts bring their six essentials with them on every outing\, but most importantly all scouts must have a water bottle.  We will be on our feet for most of the day on Saturday and everyone will need to drink water.  Similarly\, please wear comfortable shoes.  The weather for the weekend looks generally nice but there is a chance of a small amount of rain Friday night into Saturday morning.  Unless the weather becomes hazardous we will stay on schedule and start our hike in the rain.  Having a rain jacket and a change of clothes in your pack would be a good idea.  Finally\, the weather is likely to be even cooler in Western MD than at home so please be prepared with layers of clothing.  If you are a cold sleeper\, you may want to consider wearing thermal pajamas while you sleep to stay warm.  If you have additional questions about camping\, please visit the camping 101 section of the website or email the Cubmaster at cubmaster@pack802md.com. \nPlease use the following sign-up to attend this event: \nYou don't have permission to view this page. \nLet me know if you have questions! \n~ Kim

SUMMARY:Gunpowder Falls State Park - Camp Wood Camping Event
DESCRIPTION:Overview:  Please join us for our first fall camping trip of 2018 at Camp Wood\, located in Gunpowder Falls State Park (Hereford Area).  The Pack will be tent camping from Friday evening to Sunday morning but your family has the option to attend one night\, both nights\, or just for the day on Saturday.  We will be providing dinner Friday\, three meals and snacks on Saturday\, and breakfast on Sunday.  Cost is $5 for scouts and siblings per night\, and $10 for adults per night. \nAgenda:  \n\nFriday Evening:  Families may arrive at camp anytime on Friday evening but our target arrival time for the pack trailer is ~6:00pm.  The parking lot is approximately 1/4 mile walk from the campground so we will be required to carry/wheel all of our equipment in.  We have a couple of wagons available to help transport gear.  We appreciate assistance unloading the trailer and setting up camp.  We will plan to begin dinner as soon as camp is setup.\nSaturday Morning:  We will plan to serve breakfast between 8:00-9:00 am.  Following clean-up\, the scouts will have an opportunity to learn and practice various scout skills including tent setup\, knots\, fire building\, water purification\, basic first aid\, and plant/animal identification.  We will perform these skills in small groups using a round-robin approach and will incorporate a few games to keep it fun.\nSaturday Afternoon:  We will plan to cook and serve lunch between 12:00-1:00 pm.  We will have a little down-time after lunch and will plan to start a hike around 2:00pm.  We will complete an approximate 2-3 mile hike along the Gunpowder River.  While not mandatory\, scouts should get in the habit of having their six essentials with them whenever we are hiking. Six essentials include (water\, trail food\, sunscreen\, whistle\, first aid kit\, and a light).\nSaturday Evening:  Before dinner\, we will have time for some group games at the campground.   We will plan to cook and serve dinner around 6:00 pm.  Following dinner we will have a campfire program which will include some songs\, scout and leader skits\, and other entertainment. We will also use this opportunity to hand out several special awards earned by our scouts over the summer.\nSunday Morning:  We will cook and serve breakfast between 8:00-9:00 am on Sunday.  We plan to break camp shortly after breakfast on Sunday morning and appreciate assistance with cleanup and loading the trailer.\n\nMenu:  \n\nDrinks: Water\, kool-aid\, coffee\, and tea\nFriday dinner: Dutch oven pizza and salad\nSaturday breakfast: Dutch oven egg casserole\, pancakes\, sausage\nSaturday lunch: Peanut-butter and jelly\, grilled cheese\, turkey\, chips and watermelon\nSaturday dinner: Hot dogs\, burgers\, beans\, mac n cheese and green beans.\nSunday breakfast: Pancakes\, eggs\, sausage\, bacon\nDesserts: S’mores\, cobbler\, dutch oven brownies\n\nFacilities Notes: \nThere are restrooms on-site with electric lights\, flushing toilets\, and potable water; however\, there are no showers at this location.  Your family may want to consider bringing wet wipes.  Additionally\, the campground is located about 1/4 mile from the parking area so all equipment must be carried or wheeled in.  Finally\, there is a possibility that some of the ground surrounding the campground will be soft because of the high level of rain we have experienced lately.  We completed a site survey on Tuesday\, 18 September\, and there was some standing water in a few of the lowest areas.  I’m hopeful that the water will be gone by Friday night but the ground may still be soft.  Having a tarp or ground cloth under your tent can help to mitigate this. \nDirections:\nVia I-83.  From I-83N\, take exit 27 to route 137 East (Mt. Caramel Rd).  Proceed for about 1/2 mile and turn left on York Rd Northbound.  After passing the Herford High School\, turn left on Bunker Hill Rd.  Bunker Hill Rd transitions from a paved road into a narrow dirt/gravel road so drive carefully.  The campground parking lot is at the end of Bunker Hill Rd. \nVia Fallston.  From I-95S\, take MD-152N (Mountain Rd) to Fallston.  Turn left on Hess Rd and continue onto Monkton Rd.   Turn right on York Rd. Northbound.  After passing the Herford High School\, turn left on Bunker Hill Rd.  Bunker Hill Rd transitions from a paved road into a narrow dirt/gravel road so drive carefully.  The campground parking lot is at the end of Bunker Hill Rd. \nGoogle map directions from Aberdeen are provided below: \nGoogle Maps Driving Directions \nGunpowder Camp Wood Map \nYou don't have permission to view this page.

SUMMARY:Washington DC Day Trip
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a day trip to Washington\, DC.  We will be completing the History of Scouting Trail (HOST) walk followed by visits to the National Museum of Natural History and Air and Space Museum. \nMore information about the HOST walk can be found at:  https://www.ncacbsa.org/activitiesevents/host-hike/history-hike/ \n\n\nOverview and Cost:  During our visit we will complete an approximate 2-mile walk called the History of Scouting Trail (HOST) followed by visits to the national mall area and some of the Smithsonian Museums.  There is no cost to participate in this event aside from parking/public transportation\, individual food expenses\, and souvenirs.  There are no fees to enter the museums that we plan to visit.  The Pack will purchase award medals for all of the scouts that complete this hike in accordance with the instructions.  Scouts can earn the History of Scouting Trail Hike Medal by completing 85% or more of the activities associated with the hike.\n\n\n\n\nMeeting Location and Time:  We will begin the walk outside of the National Geographic Museum promptly at 10:30 am.  If you would like to drive to Washington\, there are numerous parking garages in the vicinity of the walk start with costs approximately $15-$20 for the day.  Alternatively\, the Farragut North Metro station on the Red Line is approximately one block from the trail start.  However you plan to get to the start\, please provide yourself plenty of time and plan to arrive at the National Geographic Museum no later than 10:15 so that we can begin our walk promptly at 10:30am.\n\nParking Info:  If you plan to park\, a list of garages near the National Geographic Building along with their availability and rates can be found on the following site:  https://www.ecolonial.com/parkers/parking-locator/?pm_s=National+Geographic+Museum%2C+17th+Street+Northwest%2C+Washington%2C+DC%2C+USA\n\nMetro Info: Alternatively\, if you plan to arrive by metro\, you can plan your trip using the MTA trip planner.  For example\, this trip plan leaves Greenbelt Metro station at 9:08am and arrives at Farragut North station at 9:58am:  https://www.wmata.com/schedules/trip-planner/trip-planner-results.cfm?locationLatLng=&destinationLatLng=&location=GREENBELT&destination=FARRAGUT+NORTH+METRO+STATION&travelby-trip-planner=CLR&arrdep-trip-planner=A&hour-leaving-trip-planner=10&minute-leaving-trip-planner=00&period-leaving-trip-planner=AM&month-leaving-trip-planner=8&day-leaving-trip-planner=19&route-trip-planner=T&walk-distance-trip-planner=.75\n\nHike Map: The following map includes a detailed list of every point of interest along the HOST hike\, places where the scouts are required to answer questions\, places where scouts are required to take a photo\, and turn-by-turn directions of our route.  Based on the map\, I anticipate finishing the walk at approximately 12:00 noon at Freedom Plaza.\nWashington DC H.O.S.T. Hike – Google My Maps\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWashington DC H.O.S.T. Hike – Google My Maps\nWashington DC H.O.S.T. Hike \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHike Details:  While completing the HOST hike\, each scout will be required to individually write down answers to ten questions and individually take 6 photographs at designated locations.  Additionally\, each scout must perform a “good turn” and collect litter found during the walk.  In order to facilitate this process each scout must bring with him or her the following items:\n\n1) One plastic bag (small grocery type)2) 2 Pencils/Pens3) Camera or ability to take your own 6 photos \n4) One Answer card (http://www.ncacbsa.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/HOST-_History_Hike_Response_.pdf)\n5) Copy of Hike Challenge Questions pamphlet (http://www.ncacbsa.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/History_Hike_Challenge_Quest.pdf)\n6) Proper hike clothing\, hat \n7) Water bottle\n8) Remainder of 6 essentials.  Snack\, whistle\, first aid kit\, sun protection (shouldn’t need a light).\n\n\nWe will bring a few extra copies of the answer card and challenge questions\, but please plan to bring your own copy if possible.  The instructions request that scouts complete the walk in uniform; however\, it will likely be hot and humid and I would rather the scouts be safe and comfortable than be in uniform.  Class A uniform is optional if you want to look classy while completing the hike\, Class B T-shirts or other comfortable scout-related clothing is recommended.\n\nLunch:  At the conclusion of the hike\, we will make our way to the national mall area where we will take a break for lunch.  There are typically numerous food trucks available with a variety of food options in this area.  If you do not want to buy your lunch\, you are welcome to bring your own lunch.  Please come prepared with either a packed lunch or money to buy lunch as the Pack will not be providing food on this trip.\n\nMuseums:  Following lunch\, we will have the option of viewing the national mall area and/or visiting some of the Smithsonian Museums to include the Museum of Natural History and/or the Air and Space Museum.  Ideally we will remain as a group and have the opportunity to view both museums but I advise parents to monitor the ability of their own scouts and be prepared to break when necessary.  Everything looks much closer than it really is on the map and there will be a lot of walking above and beyond the hike.  I anticipate easily clocking over 5 miles during the hike and our museum visits.  Please plan for your return to either a metro center or your parking garage.\n\nYou don't have permission to view this page.

SUMMARY:Camping Washington Monument State Park with visit to Crystal Grottoes Caverns
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for our July camping trip to Washington Monument State Park July 27-29th.  Choose to camp one or two nights using the sign ups below.  Cost is as follows:  Scouts $5/day\, Adults $10/day\, Siblings $5/day.  Cost includes the camping site fee and meals.  Sign up and payment for camping is due by Friday\, July 20th.  Please coordinate with Kim for payment.  Check in time is anytime after 3pm Friday and we will be at the youth group site #2.  Check out is by 1pm Sunday. \nThis state park is a worthwhile destination because it is home to the first monument dedicated to president Washington\, is home to a small civil war museum\, and sits along the Appalachian trail. \nWe are staying at primitive group site #2 which has three 25’x25′ concrete pads\, 2 picnic tables\, 1 fire ring with grill attachment and there is a restroom (flushing toilets and sinks\, NO showers) shared with 2 other group sites nearby.\n \n \nWe will plan to hike along the Appalachian Trail from the parking area along route 40 to a scenic vista called Annapolis Rock with an optional extension to another lookout called Black Rock.  This is a moderately easy hike that is mostly flat with a short climb (~1/2 mile) along the 2+ mile one-way trip (4-5 mile round trip).  This seems to be a popular destination so hitting it either Friday evening or early on Saturday morning should help to avoid the crowds.  If anyone wanted to extend their hike and see a longer section of the AT\, they could leave from the park and add an extra ~3 miles downhill to the parking area.  We could even do part of a hike on Friday and another part on Saturday if people wanted to cover a slightly larger section of the AT.  Additional info about this hike is located at the following link:\nhttps://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/maryland/annapolis-rock-via-appalachian-trail\n\nWe will also be visiting the nearby Crystal Grottoes Cavern (optional) and have secured a group rate for a 4pm visit on Saturday.  The group rates are adult tickets $15.00 and kid (12 and younger) $5.00.  Note that the Pack will pay for the scouts to attend the cavern trip FREE but you will be responsible to pay for siblings/adults.  This cave is only about a 4.5 mile drive from the park and will be a good way to cool off on Saturday afternoon.  The tour is about 30 minutes long.  Please note that the cavern only takes CASH as method of payment – no debit or credit cards so please come prepared with cash payment.  For additional information for cavern visit their website at:   http://www.crystalgrottoescaverns.com/ \nCheck out the link below for a custom Google map showing some of these points of interest relative to each other.\nhttps://drive.google.com/open?id=1P_IRd8RLQQSsKrct0HejowD8FVDkrHy2&usp=sharing\n\nUse the following sign-up sheets to attend this event.  Please sign up for the nights you are camping as well as if you will be attending the optional trip to the caverns.\n\nYou don't have permission to view this page.

Note that the site has no running water but there are porta-potties (handicapped accessible) on site.  There are a few fire rings as well as picnic tables and a large space for tent set up.   There are bathrooms within driving distance with warm running water 🙂  We are able to drive right up to our camping area to park and unload. \nPark website:  http://www.destateparks.com/park/lums-pond/index.asp \nThe park features over 10 miles in hiking/biking trails\, several geocaches within the park\, sports fields\, frisbee golf course\, playgrounds\, and opportunities for fishing (bring your gear if you have it) and paddling in the largest freshwater pond in DE.   The park does have boat rentals available at a very reasonable cost ($7-$15/hour depending on type of boat). \nDogs are welcome at this park but must be on a leash (not to exceed 6 feet) except in specified off leash areas (there is an off leash area near the primitive campsite).  All pets must be licensed\, and proof of a rabies vaccination is required. \nAdditionally\, the park also includes an aerial tree-top ropes/zipline course called Go Ape.  It’s important to note that we are not permitted to participate in this activity as a scouting event\, however we can plan to go on our own as families prior to or at the conclusion of our camping tip.  This event needs to be booked on your own by visiting the Go Ape website (see below).  Note that we plan to discuss what times would work best for those interested at the Parent Leader planning meeting on Tues. May 22nd. \nThe link for Go Ape for additional information is as follows (please pay attention to the age/height/weight information for the courses):  https://goape.com/Locations/Delaware/Bear?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIr8K24aiO2wIVVVuGCh01mQLkEAAYASAAEgI5e_D_BwE \nWe completed a site survey to check out the campground and other areas of the park.  Click here for photos from the site survey. \nPlease use the sign-up below to sign up for one or two nights of camping (scroll to bottom when page loads): \nYou don't have permission to view this page.
