This hike was performed by the Pack 802 Lion Den in January 2021 at Swan Harbor Farm in Havre de Grace, MD. Swan Harbor Farm is operated by the Harford County Department of Parks and Recreation and provides an opportunity for outdoor nature exploration as well as venue rentals for private events. Additionally, the park features a radio controlled aircraft field operated by Swan Harbor RC.
The Shorebird Pond trail was created by an Eagle Scout from Troop 809 in Jarretsville, MD and provides instructions and signage for performing bird sightings with the Harford County Bird Club. The scouts completed the loop hike and spotted several signs of wildlife along the route. Some of the wildlife spotted by our scouts included two beaver dams, bald eagles, osprey, and other shore bird common to the Northern Chesapeake bay. This is a great venue for a short hike or for bird watching and is appropriate for meeting wildlife exploration adventures spanning multiple age groups.
